Bengal Blues

With politics having turned into a civil war; with political parties employing armed cadres to consolidate votes in certain areas; with the same political parties trying to uphold a holier than thou image in front of the people; it is time that a change is required, maybe even a revolution. Common people are being shot dead as if they were ants, and even in death their bodies are becoming battle ground for political parties. These parties do everything in the name of the people but the people are furthest away from their concern. It has become a blatant and shameless war to grab or hold on to political power. The situation is so bad that one cannot trust any political leader; they no longer have any credibility. Their speeches and debates are no longer funny or ridiculous – they inspire disgust. We the people need to do something and we need to do something fast. With the Assembly elections round the corner the Central government needs to step in. But then again, the condition of the central government is no better. With elections coming up the voters should have an option on the ballot paper that says “I do not vote for any of the candidates because I believe none of them are worthy.” I am sure many people will opt for this. If the majority of the people vote against the candidates, these candidates should be suspended and new elections held. Maybe this will help or maybe not. It is just an option I have in mind.
